Getting started

Version 2 · Last updated 7 October 2026

Livo asks for nothing at first launch. Getting Started is a list of seven optional steps you can take in any order, now or later.

Open it from the line under the Gallery’s header, from Organize › Getting Started, or from Settings › About. Each row shows a tick when it is done, and you can swipe a row left to skip it for now.

1. Your name

Stamps your Time Capsules and signs your stories. Typing your name also creates you as a Person, so you can tag yourself in photos. Change it any time in Settings › Your Name.

2. Your look

Livo is always dark, with white lettering, in one of three palettes: Charcoal (the default), Slate, or Spring, the lightest. Change it any time in Settings › Appearance.

3. Your photos

Brings in your Camera Roll. Livo keeps a small copy of each photo and your notes about it; your photos stay where they are, and Livo never deletes or changes them. This is the only step that asks for a permission (Photos), and only when you start it.

4. OneDrive

Optional. Sign in to a Microsoft account to bring in photos from OneDrive, to keep backups and Time Capsule copies off your phone, and to share with your family. Livo works without it. Add or remove accounts in Settings › Data › OneDrive Accounts.

5. Family Share

Optional, and needs OneDrive. Sets up the folder your family reads from and finds the folders they share with you. Everything each person shares stays in their own OneDrive; nothing goes through a server.

6. Keep a copy

Turns on the copy of each backup and each sealed Time Capsule to your OneDrive, and lets you add other folders of your own in Vault › Places, such as iCloud Drive.

7. Where things are

A short tour of the four places in Livo: the Gallery, Memory Lane, the Vault and the book. See Where things are.
