Time Capsules and the Vault
Version 1 · Last updated 7 October 2026
A Time Capsule is one Memory, sealed into a single file that will open in any web browser for as long as there are web browsers.
Sealing
Open the Vault and tap + (Create Time Capsules). Pick the Memories; each one is sealed into its own capsule and appears in the list at once. The first time, Livo asks for your name, which is stamped on every capsule you seal. Stop keeps the capsules already finished and discards the one in progress.
What is inside
The photos and videos at full quality (with the names, places and story written into each photo, where other apps can read them), the story, your narration, the Memory as a video, the names of the people and places, and a page called START HERE - open with any web browser.html. Unzip the capsule on any computer and open that page: no app, no account, nothing to install. The README inside says so, and asks whoever keeps it to copy it to a new drive every five years or so.
Where capsules are kept
On this phone, in the Files app under On My iPhone › Livo › TimeCapsules; in your OneDrive’s Livo Vault folder; and in any other place you choose. See Keeping capsules safe.
The list
Each capsule shows its name, the date and time it was sealed, and its state: Checked 6 Oct · 2 places when all is well; Not checked yet; Needs attention; Re-seal; Lost. The line at the top sums them up. The Filter button shows only capsules from the family, or older versions. Tap a capsule for its screen: look inside, Export, Send to a Livo, the checks and repairs, Keep forever (a Keepsake), and Delete.
Importing
Import at the top takes a capsule file from Files. Its photos go into your Camera Roll and your Gallery, and the Memory appears in Memory Lane — see Sending to someone.
Older versions
Re-sealing a Memory makes a new capsule and keeps the old one under Older Versions; nothing you sealed is ever thrown away by Livo.
