Technology for living well.
Somewhere along the way, our devices stopped feeling like tools and started feeling like obligations.
Our first product, LivoCapsule, is coming to the App Store. See all products →
Why Livo
A new phone means new gestures to memorize. A new app means another account, another password, and another quiet stream of information about you flowing somewhere else. We own more technology than ever and feel less in charge of it. At some point you notice that your devices are training you.
Livo Enterprises builds the other kind: technology that adapts to the person using it, stays out of the way, and leaves your days lighter. Livo is our word for life, and for living it well.
Two promises
Every Livo product is held to both.
-
It makes life simpler, not more complicated.
A product earns its place by taking something off your plate. If you spend more time managing the tool than doing the thing you got it for, it isn’t finished.
-
You stay in charge.
You run the technology. It doesn’t run you. In practice that means two things.
- It learns how you work
- For decades people have been told to adapt to machines: learn the menu, learn the gesture, learn the file format. We think that’s backwards. You should be able to say what you want in your own words, and the product should do the adapting.
- Your data is yours
- Whatever a Livo product learns about you stays on your devices, in formats you can open without us. It goes to other people only when you decide, and only to the people you choose.
What that means in practice
- No Livo account to create.
- No Livo server holding your information.
- No subscriptions. When you buy a Livo product, it’s yours.
- Plain, documented file formats, so what you make outlives the app that made it.
- Nothing acts on your behalf without showing you first and waiting for your yes.
These are constraints on us. They decide what we build, and what we won’t.
Where this is going
The ideas behind Livo today will grow as we learn, and the products will follow them. Notes is where that thinking happens in the open.
- The thread I didn’t see until I wrote it downOwning your data and making devices work for you sound like two beliefs. They are one, and it is about autonomy.
Who we are
Livo Enterprises is a small, independent company started by Ken Jones, who spent a career building software and then working with data, and came out of it convinced that technology had the relationship backwards. Read why.
