Editing photos and videos
Version 2 · Last updated 9 October 2026
Every edit in Livo makes a new photo or video next to the original. The original is never changed, and nothing is deleted.
The one rule
Livo does not touch the files you brought in. Rotate is a note Livo keeps for itself. Edit Photo, Edit Segments, Save Frame and Stitch each make a new file, saved where the original lives (the Camera Roll, or the same OneDrive folder), and bring it into Livo with its own badge and its own line in the Filter. The original stays as it was. If you want it out of the way afterwards, move it to a Bucket.
Rotate
Select a photo and tap Rotate in the bottom bar, or use the Rotate button in the full-screen viewer. Livo turns the picture a quarter turn each tap and remembers it. The photo in Photos is not changed; whenever a copy leaves Livo (a Memory video, a capsule, a share), the turn is baked in.
Edit Photo
Open a photo full screen and tap Edit Photo. Two tools: Crop (drag the corners or the box) and Adjust (Brightness and Contrast). Save writes a new photo, Edited_ and the time, to the Camera Roll or the OneDrive folder; it shows in the Moment of the original’s date with the edited badge. The Filter has Edited Photos Only.
Edit Segments
For a long recording — a transferred videotape, an hour of a party — open the video full screen and tap the film button, Edit Segments. It is a mark-in, mark-out editor:
- Find where a recording starts: drag the filmstrip, nudge a second at a time, or play, fast-forward and rewind and watch for the break.
- Tap Mark Segment Start.
- Set Date/time on tape — read it off the picture if the tape shows one, or your best memory.
- Find where it ends and tap Mark Segment End & Save.
Livo saves that stretch as a new video named with the date you typed, so it lands in the Moment of that date, not the day the tape was transferred. The next segment starts where this one ended, so you work along the tape in order. Each segment carries the segment badge; the Filter has Edited Segments Only. The long original is untouched.
Save a frame as a photo
On the same Edit Segments screen, stop on the picture you want — the face, the cake, the moment — and tap Save Frame as Photo. Livo takes that one frame at the video’s full size and saves it as a new photo in your Camera Roll, dated the video’s date plus the time into the video, so it sits right after the video in the same Moment. Nothing is copied from the video: the frame starts with no story or tags, and you add what it needs. The tile carries the frame badge; Info says which video it came from and where; the Filter has Video Frames Only. A frame is never sharper than the video it came from.
Stitch
Select two or more videos in the Gallery and tap Stitch in the bottom bar. Livo lists the clips in the order they were taken, the total running time, and where the result will go (where the first clip lives). Stitch makes one new video of all of them, end to end. When the clips are all the same way up it is joined without re-encoding, so nothing is lost; otherwise it is re-encoded. The result has the stitched badge; the Filter has Stitched Videos Only. Edit Segments works on a stitched video like any other.
What Livo does not do
Trim a video in place, change its speed, add titles or music, or edit sound. A Memory is the place to put photos and clips together with a story and your voice — see Making a Memory.
